How it works

How CNS calculates your price

Hourly rate × hours of work

Our crew is billed by the hour. Hourly rate depends on crew size (2, 3, or 4 movers) and the time of year — moves around July 1, peak season, and month-end command higher rates because demand outpaces supply.

Distance fee for moves over 35 km

Local moves under 35 km between addresses pay no distance fee. Beyond 35 km, we charge $1.50/km for our 22-foot truck or $1.75/km for our larger 28- or 32-foot trucks. One-way distance — never doubled for the return trip.

Seasonal pricing

May 25 to July 10 is high season. June 27 to July 2 is the Moving Day window. July 1 itself is the highest-demand day of the year and is priced accordingly. Off-season (July 11 to May 24) is our lowest rate.

Quebec sales tax (GST + QST)

All Quebec movers add 5% GST + 9.975% QST to the subtotal. Your estimate shows the pre-tax subtotal first, then the tax line items, then the total — no surprises.

Built on real moves, not marketing claims

Every number you see comes from 7,120+ actual CNS moves since 2017. Same crews, same trucks, same rate sheet — whether you're across town or across the country.

Pricing questions, answered

How does CNS calculate moving prices?+
Three components: hourly labour (crew size × hours), distance (charged past the 35 km threshold), and Quebec sales tax. Our hourly rate adjusts with the season — higher around July 1 and month-end, lowest from mid-July through May.
Is the price I see online the final price?+
It's a real estimate based on the inputs you provided. A CNS team member will review your request, confirm access details and any heavy or specialty items, and send you a binding quote — typically within minutes during business hours.
What if my move runs longer than estimated?+
You're billed at the same hourly rate, in 30-minute increments, until the work is done. The crew clocks in and out transparently, and the final invoice shows actual hours worked — no hidden fees, no minimums beyond the standard 3-hour work + 1-hour transport floor.
Do you charge for stairs?+
No, never up to four floors. CNS includes the first four flights of stairs free at every address. A surcharge applies from the fifth floor up when there's no elevator — and we'll always tell you up front before the move.
What about heavy items like pianos?+
Heavy and specialty items — pianos, safes, pool tables, aquariums, anything over 250 lb — are quoted separately by our team after we review your request. Your online estimate flags them so we can include the right crew and equipment.
How long does it take to get a real binding quote?+
The auto-estimate shows in under 60 seconds. After you submit your contact info, a CNS team member follows up within minutes during business hours — an auto-response goes out instantly so you know we received it.
