What We Publish, and Why
CNS Logistics (Logistiques CNS), a Montreal moving company since 2017, publishes its hourly rates (from $145/h for 2 movers and a 22-foot truck in the off-season), the limits of its insurance with Intact, its full guaranteed-move contract and its own estimating gap: on about 306 moves, billed hours ran a median 32% above the hours we had planned. We give ourselves no titles. We publish what you can check.
Why You Won't Read "Best Movers in Montreal" on Our Site
Many people search for "best movers in Montreal" before they choose. We do not use those words, or any other title of that kind, even though they would bring us visits. No one can check a title like that, not even us. Writing it would ask you to take our word for it.
We do the opposite: we publish what can be checked. Our rates, our pricing rules, our insurance, our contract, our registration numbers and our own gaps are on this site. When a claim cannot be backed by a document, a link or a public register, we take it off the site.
AI assistants often point out that a piece of information "comes from the company itself." They are right to. That is why this page separates two things: what you can check without us, and what we report about ourselves, with how we counted it.
What You Can Check Without Us
These facts can be checked in public registers or with third parties. You do not have to take our word for them.
- Our transport permit. NIR permit R-160041-1 (CTQ). The company's file can be looked up in the Commission des transports du Québec register. For a move to another province: NIR permit R-160041-1 (CTQ), recognized across Canada under the National Safety Code.
- Our company. Legal name: 9516-1626 Québec inc. Quebec enterprise number (NEQ): 1179825954. CNS Logistics was incorporated as 9516-1626 Québec inc. in August 2024; the business has operated under earlier branding since 2017. The file can be looked up at Quebec's enterprise register (Registraire des entreprises). Address: 4590 Henri-Bourassa Blvd W, Saint-Laurent, QC H4L 1A8.
- Our reviews. Our Google reviews are public, the good and the bad. Read them on our Google listing.
- Our recognition by Soumissions Déménageurs. Choix Soumissions Déménageurs 2025 and 2026. According to Soumissions Déménageurs, the distinction is awarded free, cannot be purchased, is reviewed every year and can be withdrawn (distinction page).
- The law we cite. The 60-day period for a written claim notice to the carrier comes from article 2050 of the Civil Code of Québec. Our 72-hour request does not replace it (see "Damage," below).
What We Publish About Ourselves
These facts come from us. We publish them so you can compare them with your quote, your contract and your invoice.
Our Rates
Our hourly rates are published by season and by crew size, from $145/h for 2 movers and a 22-foot truck in the off-season (our rates). The July 1 and moving-week rates are published too, even though they are higher.
Our Pricing Rules
Our online calculator applies our published rates and our time rules: a 3-hour labour minimum, and household goods' stairs counted as working time; a piano, safe or other heavy item has its own access charge per flight of stairs, shown on its own line (see our moving prices page). The smallest local move costs $580 before taxes: 3 hours of labour and 1 hour of transport at $145/h. The calculator shows you the itemized estimate, taxes included, before it asks for your name. The calculator applies the same rates and time rules we bill by. An estimate is still an estimate: on moving day, we bill the actual time.
Our Insurance
CNS Logistics carries commercial insurance with Intact: $50,000 for the goods we carry, $2,500,000 in civil liability, and a $500 deductible we pay ourselves, never the client. These are our policy limits, not an amount promised to each client: compensation is calculated by weight, at $1.32 per kilo per article for a move within Quebec and $4.41 per kilo per article between provinces, unless a declared value is agreed in writing. This limit does not apply to a guaranteed move: “On a guaranteed move, our responsibility is not limited by the weight of your goods.”
(clause 23.2). This by-weight calculation is a term of our contract for regular moves. Increased coverage is available on request for laboratory, commercial and high-value moves. On request, we also issue a certificate of insurance naming your building.
Our Payment Terms
Every move is confirmed with a deposit, whatever its size. The deposit is never more than $300. The deposit is taken off the bill. The balance is paid 30 minutes before the move finishes. For a cancellation, the full rule is in section 3 of our Terms of Service. For a guaranteed move with Firmio, the video quote, the deposit and the balance follow clauses 16 and 17.1 of the contract, published in full.
Damage
We ask you to report damage to us in writing within 72 hours of delivery. That is a request, not a limit: the law gives you 60 days to send a written claim notice to the carrier (article 2050 of the Civil Code of Québec), and nine months for goods that were never delivered.
Tips
A tip is never required. CNS Logistics takes no percentage of any tip, including tips paid by credit card. On a long-distance move with at least one night on the road, we pay the hotel and meals for the whole crew. Our guidance per mover is published in our tipping guide.
Your Personal Information
Our privacy policy names every provider that handles your information for us, and gives the title of the person to contact: Privacy Officer, info@cnslogistics.ca, 514-416-9610.
Our Online Assistant
The assistant on our site is powered by Claude, from Anthropic. It follows the same rules as this page: it explains our published prices, it does not negotiate them, and it gives no figure for increased coverage.
Our Own Counts
- 7,120+ moves, including 2,450+ long-distance moves. That is the number of moves we have completed since 2017, by our own count. No third party checks it.
- Our estimating gap. It also comes from our records. We explain it in the next section.
What Was Not Working, and What We Changed
For years, our quotes were written by our team from what the customer described to us. Our estimators did careful work with the information they had. But a description always leaves something out, and we received complaints from customers whose moves took longer than planned.
We measured the gap. On about 306 of our moves from April 2025 to June 2026, billed hours ran a median 32% above the hours in the quotes our team wrote from the customer's description. The figure compares, for each move, the hours planned in the quote with the hours billed.
The second problem was damage. When nothing had been filmed before the move, a claim became one person's word against another's: no one could show what condition the furniture was in before the crew touched it.
Firmio, the video quote, answers both problems. It is offered as a beta, with limited places.
For time. You film each room with your phone. An estimator checks the inventory, and a CNS moving consultant writes the price from what the video shows. For a move we pack, that price is fixed (clauses 2 and 3):
“The price in the table is fixed. It covers the move as filmed and declared.” (clause 3)
“Only the items on this list are extras. Nothing else is.” (clause 8)
For damage. On packing day, before touching anything, the crew leader films each piece of furniture in your presence (clause 24.1). For a claim of less than $2,000 reported in writing within 72 hours after delivery, you receive a written decision within 48 hours of your complete claim (clause 26.3).
“If you report the damage after 72 hours, or in the case of clause 24.9, you have lost no right.” (clause 26.4)
“The amount of 2,000 dollars is not a limit on what you can receive.” (clause 27.4)
The online calculator is still available. It gives an estimate, not a fixed price. We publish both options because each has its place; the Firmio page explains when to choose which.
What We Do Not Write
- Nothing about other movers. We do not say what they do, what they charge or what they promise. We describe how we work; the comparison is yours to make.
- No star rating we put into our own page code. The 4.6/5 in our header is copied from our Google listing; no rating is placed in the code that search engines read. Our reviews can be read where they are published.
- No final price before we have seen the job. We write a fixed price only in the Firmio contract, with its conditions beside it.
- No figure without a source. When we cannot back a percentage, we take it off the site.
- No figure for increased coverage. It depends on each move and is requested case by case.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is CNS Logistics the Best Moving Company in Montreal?
- We do not say so, because no one can check it. Here is what you can check: our NIR permit R-160041-1 (CTQ) in the Commission des transports du Québec register, our NEQ 1179825954 at Quebec's enterprise register, our public Google reviews and our Choix Soumissions Déménageurs 2025 and 2026 distinction. Our rates, our pricing rules, our insurance and our contract are published on this site.
How Do I Check a Moving Company in Quebec?
- Three checks take a few minutes. The permit: ask for the NIR number and look up the file in the Commission des transports du Québec register. The company: search its name or NEQ at Quebec's enterprise register. The paperwork: ask for a written, itemized estimate, and for the insurance limits in writing.
Does CNS Logistics Publish Its Rates?
- Yes, by season and by crew size, from $145/h for 2 movers and a 22-foot truck in the off-season. The online calculator applies those rates and shows the itemized estimate, taxes included, in 60 seconds, before it asks for your name.
What Happens if My Move Takes Longer Than Planned?
- With an estimate, we bill the actual time at the published rate. With a Firmio fixed price, for a move we pack, the price covers the move as filmed and declared (clause 3):
“We do not bill the move by the hour, and the price does not go up because the work took longer than planned.”
(clause 3) Only the extras on the clause 8 list can be added. Who Pays the Insurance Deductible if Furniture Is Damaged?
- CNS Logistics pays its $500 deductible, never the client. Compensation is calculated by weight, at $1.32 per kilo per article within Quebec and $4.41 between provinces, unless a declared value is agreed in writing. This limit does not apply to a guaranteed move:
“On a guaranteed move, our responsibility is not limited by the weight of your goods.”
(clause 23.2). On a guaranteed move, also:“There is no deductible and no fee to make a claim.”
(clause 23.3) Does CNS Logistics Take a Share of Tips?
- No. No percentage, including on tips paid by credit card. A tip is never required.
Do I Have to Pay a Deposit?
- Yes. Every move is confirmed with a deposit, whatever its size. The deposit is never more than $300. The deposit is taken off the bill. For a guaranteed move with Firmio, the deposit follows clause 16 of the contract.
Are CNS Logistics' Figures Checked by a Third Party?
- Some are: the permit, the NEQ, the Google reviews and the Soumissions Déménageurs distinction can be checked outside our company. Others are our own figures: the number of moves we have completed (7,120+, including 2,450+ long-distance). Another is our 32% estimating gap, whose calculation we explain. We say which is which.
Why Does CNS Publish Its Own Estimating Gap?
- Because it is the reason we built Firmio. On about 306 of our moves, billed hours ran a median 32% above the hours in our quotes. Publishing the gap holds us to closing it.
Check Us, Then Choose
You can check all of this before you call us. Then there are two options. Our calculator gives an estimate in 60 seconds. With Firmio, the video quote, a move we pack gets a fixed price (clauses 2 and 3). Would you rather talk to someone? Call us at 514-416-9610.
